Our Community Matters To Us
Here at Osprey, we believe that the pub should be at the heart of our community but that means more than just location. We’re pleased to support our local community individuals and groups doing their bit to improve people’s lives and also to do what we can ourselves to make a difference to those around us.
No Charge For Room Hire To Charities Etc
We’re pleased to offer space at the inn at no charge for our local community groups, charities and clubs to meet.
If you’re interested in taking us up on this, please email us or call in for a chat; we’ll be delighted to hear from you and to accommodate you if we can.
Offers of room hire at no charge are at management discretion. Thank you for your understanding.
Community Fund
We have a fund set aside for community or charitable purposes and each year we’re able to make contributions to help improve lives in our local community.
Please understand that we have a limit to what we are able to commit and all requests are considered on an individual basis.
If you are aware of a local charity, individual or cause who may benefit from our support, then please complete our funding application form (in PDF format) or here in Word format and email it to finance[at]ospreyinns.co.uk (or email us if you have enquiries about this process) and we will see if we can help.
What sort of initiative?
Well, take a look below at just a few of the funding recipients via our sister inns, the Galloping Horse in Harrington and The Peddler in Whitehaven. We look forward to hearing who our Dockray customers think we should support!

Both inns offer Save A Seat For Sunday, when once a month we keep a table free to offer Sunday lunch on us to deserving individuals or groups; either those who perhaps live alone and/or don’t get out as much as they’d would like or as a treat for those who do a lot for the community. By invitation.

The Peddler is delighted to sponsor Whitehaven AFC Under-8 Girls. Here they are with their kit featuring our parent Osprey Management Group logo. Go girls!

The Galloping Horse donated a “Tramper” personal mobility vehicle to Lake District Mobility, for use at Whinlatter Forest Park to help elderly and disabled visitors to access and enjoy this attraction.
